  1. Enrolment for Hygiene Rating by paying nominal charges.
  2. Inspection held by FSSAI approved auditor.
  3. Hygiene rating certificate nominated by FSSAI will be shared via email.
  4. Sharing of Hygiene Rating checklist via email and 7 days time period given to make necessary improvements in the premises.
  5. Scoring given between 1-5 based on the Hygiene Rating checklist.
  6. Display of Hygiene Rating certificate at prominent place within premises and display of Rating on e-commerce platform.

Statement of Impartiality

The Management of FSATO Inspection Services recognizes and understands the importance of being impartial, and of being seen to be impartial, in carrying out its Inspection activities through:

  • FSATO Inspection Services conducts an annual risk assessment to identify and evaluate any factors that could potentially threaten impartiality. This assessment includes the consideration of new risks that may arise.
  • The impartiality policy has been communicated to all levels within the organization, ensuring that all personnel are aware of its importance and scope.
  • FSATO Inspection Services requires written declarations of impartiality from all individuals involved in its activities, reinforcing the commitment to unbiased operations.
  • The organization does not permit any commercial, financial, or other types of pressures that could influence the impartiality of its operations.
  • FSATO Inspection Services maintains no direct affiliation with any food service establishment. Additionally, its personnel are not involved in any training, consultancy, or other activities that could create a conflict of interest.
  • Audits are carried out independently, and FSATO Inspection Services, either directly or through its personnel, is not involved in the design, supply, purchase, installation, or maintenance of any equipment or services used in the food establishment.
  • FSATO Inspection Services shall not conduct in-house or open-house training for any food service establishments across India, ensuring complete impartiality in its audit processes.
  • FSATO Inspection Services ensures that auditors shall not review their own audit reports, thus avoiding any conflicts of interest related to self-review.
  • FSATO Inspection Services obtains a declaration to prevent any potential familiarity conflicts between the auditor and the auditee at the time an audit is accepted by an auditor
  • FSATO Inspection Services accepts payments for audit services directly into company’s account; auditors are not authorized to collect any cash payments from clients.
  • FSATO Inspection Services shall not engage in consultancy services, nor do its personnel provide any such services, ensuring no overlap between audit and advisory roles.
  • FSATO Inspection Services shall not accept subcontracted audits from other companies. Any work orders issued to FSATO Inspection Services are reviewed and accepted by management.
  • FSATO Inspection Services makes this impartiality policy publicly available, including through our official website. This ensures that all stakeholders, including food establishments, clients, and the public, are fully informed of our commitment to impartiality and the measures in place to safeguard it.

Statement of Confidentiality

The management of FSATO Inspection Services is committed to ensuring the confidentiality of all information and data entrusted to us. This is achieved through the following measures:

  • FSATO Inspection Services personnel are strictly prohibited from disclosing any clientrelated information, data, or proprietary details to unauthorized individuals or entities, both during and after their employment.
  • FSATO Inspection Services personnel are required to sign a formal written declaration, affirming their commitment to uphold the confidentiality of all client information, proprietary data, and internal processes.
  • FSATO Inspection Services ensures that formal confidentiality agreements are established with all clients. These agreements explicitly define the terms and conditions under which client information will be protected and used.
  • FSATO Inspection Services personnel shall inform clients in opening meeting regarding company’s confidentiality policies, including the secure handling and storage of sensitive data.
  • FSATO Inspection Services personnel may only disclose client-related information when legally mandated by authorized regulatory bodies, including the Quality Council of India (QCI) or the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), or when required by applicable law.
  • FSATO Inspection Services personnel are prohibited from sharing their individual login credentials for the FSATO-IS portal, FSSAI portal, or any other related systems with unauthorized persons. Personnel must ensure the security of their login details at all times.
  • FSATO Inspection Services personnel shall not share, distribute, or provide any photographs, notes, or other documents related to FSATO-IS activities, whether for educational, financial, or any other purposes, unless authorized by the appropriate supervisory personnel.
  • FSATO Inspection Services personnel shall not disclose, share, or otherwise divulge any trade secrets, recipes, formulations, or other proprietary business information to any individual or entity during or after their tenure with the company.
  • The obligation to maintain confidentiality extends beyond the termination of employment with FSATO Inspection Services. Personnel shall continue to be bound by the confidentiality agreements and policies even after their employment ends.

Quality Policy

The FSATO Inspection Services (FSATO-IS) IS committed to provide high quality , impartial Inspection Services to all organizations without any discrimination.

It complies with the requirements of Hygiene Rating Audits Agency (HRAA) Recognition Scheme (QCI/HRS/Requirements for HRA As/ver 2/ Oct 2022) and the other relevant guidelines as a minimum in the establishment, implementation and operation of the Inspection Services.

It review the quality policy and objectives from time to time to be in tune with the time and technology and trade requirements.

Complaints

In case of any Complaint related to the functioning of FSATO Inspection Services following processes can be followed:

  1. Register a Complaint by filling an Complaint form by requesting from FSATO Inspection Services on audits@fsatogroup.com
  2. On receipt of Complaint FSATO Inspection Services Chairman and Managing Director will assign Technical Manager to investigate and report it. In case Complaint is raised against Technical Manager then deputy Subject Matter Exepert shall be marked.
  3. Complaint shall be Registered once it is confirmed that it is related to hygiene rating audits.
  4. Complainant will receive acknowldgement for Complaint and update on the Complaint is provided to Complaint.
  5. Detail assessment and investigation is carried out for the Complaint.
  6. A Decision is made by reviewing the findings and Decision is communicated to the Complainant as well.
  7. Once the Complainant agrees to the Decision then the Complaint is closed.

Appeals

Appeals against the Decision of the FSATO Inspection Services can be addressed as follows:

  1. Appeals should be made to FSATO Inspection Services and it shall be resolved within 15 days time period.
  2. In case response is not received within 15 days then appeal can be made to Quality Council of India (QCI).
  3. If no communication is received from QCI ,then the appeal can be made to FSSAI and they have to respond within 15 days time period.

Steps to Improve Hygiene Rating

Step 1

Fulfil food Hygiene and safety practices as per the checklist.

Step 2

Demonstrate compliance for each of the issues mentioned in report.

Step 3

Apply for reverification by filling in the re-verification form.

Step 4

Once Inspecting Officer re-audit the premises and submit results, print the new verified rating certificate.
